Lake Havasu Seaplane primarily offers training / instruction for single engine seaplane ratings for private and commercial pilots. We offer Biennial flight reviews.

 

The single engine seaplane training classes are generally a two day course:

  • Ground school including data information sheets, sent via email, and suggested DVD seaplane information.
  • Flight training / instruction (typically 6-8 hours)
  • Checkride (typically 1 1/2 hours)
  • Matted 8 x 10 photograph

Cost
Standard Course : $2,500.00

 

A deposit + $400.00 (non-refundable) is required to secure your course date.

 

Examiners Fee Separate

Q. What do I need to bring?

A. US Pilot Certificate, US Medical, Photo ID, Log Book with time columns complete. LightSpeed ANR headset available for applicant.

Q. Is the airplane for rent?

A. No, due to insurance requirement

Q. What year is the plane?

A. 1977 Cessna 172 with a 180 horsepower Lycoming engine, including Powerflow Exhaust System.

Q. What kind of floats?

A. New Baumann amphibious floats.

Q. How soon can I get a rating?

A. Preferably at least a weeks notice.

Q. Where are you located?

A. Lake Havasu Municipal Airport inside Desert Skies FBO.

Q. Who gives instruction?

A. Maurice (Moe) Martin, owner/instructor; and Todd Underwood, Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE).

Q. Does the designee work for you?

A. No

Q. How much time on the plane?

A. 4000 + total time, 180 conversion = 1100 hours
B. TTSMR = 200 hours

Q. Does this rating substitute for a bi-annual flight review?

A. Yes.
